It’s been a tough few months hasn’t it? Whether you’re a key worker who has battled to keep the nation running during lockdown (thank you!), someone who has adapted to working from home (well done!) or someone who has been placed onto Furlough (you’re awesome!), we have all had our own personal battles and concerns. I have been working throughout and was finally able to take a few days annual leave to spend some much needed time with the wonderful Alice.
At the start of the lockdown many businesses adapted with new and wonderful offerings and I was keen to find somewhere that was offering a cream tea for us to both enjoy, and was delighted to find The Bolney Estate providing a delicious to-go box at a very reasonable price (£8.99 each).
What’s in the box?

Included in the package was an array of delicious treats:
- Homemade Plain Scones
- Locally made Belgian Chocolate Brownie
- Handmade White Chocolate & Raspberry Fudge
- Salted Caramel & Raspberry Macaron (made in Bolney Village)
- Large fresh Strawberries
- Auntie Val’s Raspberry Jam
- Award-winning BV Dairy Clotted Cream
The fudge, brownies and Macaron’s were devoured in minutes. Portions were perfectly adequate and extremely tasty. The strawberries were plump and juicy and even tastier once dipped into the clotted cream.
The centrepiece was the scones. According to Bolney Estate, the scones are made on the premises from the Chef’s grandmothers recipe… they were truly exceptional and some of the best scones I have enjoyed, ever! The rise of the scones was incredible and the soft and fluffy inside was perfect, spread with Cream and then topped with Jam (this is the only way to have it!).
The jam was provided from Auntie Val’s Ability Centre and was an exquisite preserve. It’s rare that I enjoy a jam so much, often preferring Alice’s mums preserves and homemade but it was just delightful.
Cream tea can be ordered online, by 5pm Tuesday for collection on Friday or Saturday and collected from the Winery Shop.
